16 Entonces Joab toc贸 la trompeta, y el pueblo se volvi贸 de seguir a Israel, porque Joab detuvo al pueblo.

2 Samuel 18:16

And Joab blew the trumpet
As the sign of a retreat:

and the people returned from pursuing after Israel;
upon the sound of the trumpet, the meaning of which they understood:

for Joab held back the people:
from shedding any more blood; the head of the conspiracy being removed, the thing would be crushed at once; and Joab neither chose to slay any more, nor take any prisoners, to be tried as traitors, being unawares, without thought, drawn into this rebellion.

14 Y respondi贸 Joab: No es raz贸n que yo te ruegue. Y tomando tres dardos en su mano, los hinc贸 en el coraz贸n de Absal贸n, que aun estaba vivo en medio del alcornoque.
15 Cerc谩ndolo luego diez j贸venes escuderos de Joab, hirieron a Absal贸n, y le mataron.
16 Entonces Joab toc贸 la trompeta, y el pueblo se volvi贸 de seguir a Israel, porque Joab detuvo al pueblo.
17 Tomando despu茅s a Absal贸n, le echaron en un gran foso en el bosque, y levantaron sobre 茅l un mont贸n muy grande de piedras; y todo Israel huy贸, cada uno a sus estancias.
18 Y en vida Absal贸n hab铆a tomado y levantado una columna, la cual est谩 en el valle del rey; porque hab铆a dicho entre si : Yo no tengo hijo que conserve la memoria de mi nombre. Y llam贸 aquella columna de su nombre; y as铆 se llam贸 el Lugar de Absal贸n, hasta hoy.
