Daniel 3:19-29

19 Entonces Nabucodonosor fue lleno de ira, y se demudó la figura de su rostro sobre Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego; habló, y mandó que el horno se encendiese siete veces más de lo que cada vez solía.

20 Y mandó a hombres muy vigorosos que tenía en su ejército, que atasen a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, para echarlos en el horno de fuego ardiendo.

21 Entonces estos varones fueron atados con sus mantos, y sus calzas, y sus turbantes, y sus vestidos, y fueron echados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.

22 Porque la palabra del rey daba prisa, y había procurado que se encendiese mucho, la llama del fuego mató a aquellos hombres que habían alzado a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego.

23 Y estos tres varones, Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, cayeron atados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.

24 Entonces Nabucodonosor se espantó, y se levantó aprisa, y habló, y dijo a los de su consejo: ¿No echamos tres varones atados dentro del fuego? Ellos respondieron y dijeron al rey: Es verdad, oh rey.

25 Respondió él y dijo: He aquí que yo veo cuatro varones sueltos, que se pasean en medio del fuego, y ningún daño hay en ellos; y el parecer del cuarto es semejante al hijo de Dios.

26 Entonces Nabucodonosor se acercó a la puerta del horno de fuego ardiendo, y habló y dijo: Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, siervos del alto Dios, salid y venid. Entonces Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, salieron de en medio del fuego.

27 Y se juntaron los grandes, los gobernadores, y los capitanes, y los del consejo del rey, para mirar a estos varones, cómo el fuego no se enseñoreó de sus cuerpos, ni el cabello de sus cabezas fue quemado, ni sus ropas se mudaron, ni olor de fuego pasó por ello.

28 Nabucodonosor habló y dijo: Bendito el Dios de ellos, de Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, que envió su ángel, y libró a sus siervos que esperaron en él, y el mandamiento del rey mudaron, y entregaron sus cuerpos antes que sirviesen ni adorasen otro dios que su Dios.

29 Por mí, pues, se pone decreto, que todo pueblo, nación, o lengua, que dijere blasfemia contra el Dios de Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, sea descuartizado, y su casa sea puesta por muladar; por cuanto no hay otro dios que pueda librar como éste.

INTRODUCTION TO DANIEL 3

In this chapter an account is given of a golden image made by Nebuchadnezzar; its size; and where placed, Da 3:1, a summons to all his princes, governors, and officers, to attend the dedication of it, Da 3:2,3, a proclamation commanding men of all nations to fall down and worship it, at hearing the sound of music, Da 3:4-7, an accusation of the Jews to the king, particularly Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, for not worshipping it, Da 3:8-12, the king's sending for them in rage, and threatening to cast them into a fiery furnace if they continued to disobey his will, Da 3:13-15, their answer, which showed an inflexible resolution at all events not to comply with it, Da 3:16-18 the king's order to heat the furnace seven times hotter than usual, and cast them into it, which was executed; the consequence of which was, they that cast them in were destroyed through the vehement heat of the furnace, but the three Jews were unhurt, Da 3:19-23. Nebuchadnezzar's amazement at the sight of four persons, instead of three; and these loose, walking in the midst of the fire without hurt; and one of them like the Son of God, which he observed to his counsellors, Da 3:24,25, upon which he called to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, to come out of the furnace, which they did in the presence of his princes, governors, and officers, having received not the least harm in their persons or clothes, Da 3:26,27 and then the king, praising the God of the Jews, published an edict that none should speak against him on pain of death; and restored the three men to their former dignity, Da 3:28-30.
