Nehemiah 13:23

In those days also I saw Jews that married wives of Ashdod,
of Ammon, and of Moab.
] Ashdod, or Azotus, as it is called in ( Acts 8:40 ) , was one of the five cities of the Philistines; which, though none of the seven nations with whom marriage was forbid, yet it was very unfit and improper to marry with them, ( Judges 14:3 ) . This place was a mart of the Arabians ^F8, where they sold their goods, to which the Jews might resort, and thereby be ensnared into such marriages; and which with the Ammonites and Moabites were unlawful, ( Nehemiah 13:1 ) .

21 Y les protesté, y les dije: ¿Por qué os quedáis vosotros delante del muro? Si lo hacéis otra vez, os echaré mano. Desde entonces no vinieron en sábado.

22 Y dije a los levitas que se purificasen, y viniesen a guardar las puertas, para santificar el día del sábado. También por esto acuérdate de mí, Dios mío, y perdóname según la muchedumbre de tu misericordia.

23 Vi asimismo en aquellos días judíos que habían tomado mujeres de Asdod, amonitas, y moabitas;

24 y sus hijos la mitad hablaban Asdod, y conforme a la lengua de cada pueblo; porque no sabían hablar judaico.

25 Y reñí con ellos, y los maldije, y herí a algunos de ellos, y les arranqué los cabellos, y los juramenté, diciendo: No daréis vuestras hijas a sus hijos, y no tomaréis de sus hijas para vuestros hijos, o para vosotros.
