Genesis 27:8

8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

Genesis 27:8 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 27:8

Now therefore, my son, obey my voice
Hearken to what I am about to say, and do according to that which I command thee, in every particular;
she required of him filial obedience to all that she enjoined him; which, though not difficult to be performed, she was aware Jacob would make objections to, as he did; and therefore she is so pressing and peremptory in her injunctions, as well knowing it was respecting an affair of the greatest moment and importance.

Genesis 27:8 In-Context

6 And Rebekah spoke unto Jacob her son, saying, "Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,
7 `Bring me venison, and make me savory meat, that I may eat and bless thee before the LORD before my death.'
8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.
9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats, and I will make them savory meat for thy father, such as he loveth;
10 and thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat and that he may bless thee before his death."
