We put no stumbling block in anyone's path,1 so that our ministry will not be discredited.
Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses;
in beatings, imprisonments2 and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger;36
in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit4 and in sincere love;57
in truthful speech6 and in the power of God;7 with weapons of righteousness8 in the right hand and in the left;
through glory and dishonor,9 bad report10 and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors;119
known, yet regarded as unknown; dying,12 and yet we live on;13 beaten, and yet not killed;
sorrowful, yet always rejoicing;14 poor, yet making many rich;15 having nothing,16 and yet possessing everything.1711
We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you.1812
We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us.
As a fair exchange--I speak as to my children19--open wide your hearts20 also.
