Where is the wise man?1 Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age?2 Has not God made foolish3 the wisdom of the world?

For since in the wisdom of God the world4 through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save5 those who believe.622
Jews demand miraculous signs7 and Greeks look for wisdom,

but we preach Christ crucified:8 a stumbling block9 to Jews and foolishness10 to Gentiles,

but to those whom God has called,11 both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God12 and the wisdom of God.1325
For the foolishness14 of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness15 of God is stronger than man's strength.
