1 Pero el rey Salom贸n am贸 a muchas mujeres extranjeras junto con la hija de Fara贸n; a las de Moab, a las de Am贸n, a las de Idumea, a las de Sid贸n, y a las heteas;
2 de los gentiles de las cuales el SE脩OR hab铆a dicho a los hijos de Israel: No entrar茅is a ellas, ni ellas entrar谩n a vosotros; porque ciertamente ellas har谩n inclinar vuestros corazones tras sus dioses. A 茅stas pues se junt贸 Salom贸n con amor.
3 Y tuvo setecientas mujeres reinas, y trescientas concubinas; y sus mujeres hicieron inclinar su coraz贸n.
4 Y ya que Salom贸n era viejo, sus mujeres inclinaron su coraz贸n tras dioses ajenos; y su coraz贸n no era perfecto con el SE脩OR su Dios, como el coraz贸n de su padre David.
5 Porque Salom贸n sigui贸 a Astoret, diosa de los sidonios, y a Milcom, abominaci贸n de los amonitas.
6 E hizo Salom贸n lo malo en los ojos del SE脩OR, y no fue cumplidamente tras el SE脩OR como David su padre.
7 Entonces edific贸 Salom贸n un alto a Quemos, abominaci贸n de Moab, en el monte que est谩 enfrente de Jerusal茅n; y a Moloc, abominaci贸n de los hijos de Am贸n.
8 Y as铆 hizo para todas sus mujeres extranjeras, las cuales quemaban perfumes, y sacrificaban a sus dioses.
9 Y se enoj贸 el SE脩OR contra Salom贸n, por cuanto estaba su coraz贸n desviado del SE脩OR Dios de Israel, que se le hab铆a aparecido dos veces,
10 y le hab铆a mandado acerca de esto, que no siguiese dioses ajenos; mas 茅l no guard贸 lo que le mand贸 el SE脩OR.
11 Y dijo el SE脩OR a Salom贸n: Por cuanto ha habido esto en ti, y no has guardado mi pacto y mis estatutos que yo te mand茅, romper茅 el reino de ti, y lo entregar茅 a tu siervo.
12 Pero no lo har茅 en tus d铆as, por amor de David tu padre; lo romper茅 de la mano de tu hijo.
13 Sin embargo no romper茅 todo el reino, sino que dar茅 una tribu a tu hijo, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusal茅n que yo he elegido.

INTRODUCTION TO 1 KINGS 11

This chapter relates the false steps Solomon took, notwithstanding all his wisdom, in marrying strange wives, and worshipping other gods, 1Ki 11:1-8 upon which the Lord threatens him to rend the kingdom in his son's time, 1Ki 11:9-13 and he raised up adversaries against him, Hadad, Rezon, and Jeroboam, 1Ki 11:14-26 of which last an account is given, and of his being assured by Ahijah the prophet of his having ten of the tribes of Israel given to him; which Solomon having notice of sought to slay him, 1Ki 11:27-40 and the chapter is concluded with an account of Solomon's death and burial, 1Ki 11:41-43.
