O Lord, how long1 will you look on? Rescue my life from their ravages, my precious life2 from these lions.318
I will give you thanks in the great assembly;4 among throngs5 of people I will praise you.619
Let not those gloat over me who are my enemies7 without cause; let not those who hate me without reason8 maliciously wink the eye.920
They do not speak peaceably, but devise false accusations10 against those who live quietly in the land.
They gape11 at me and say, "Aha! Aha!12 With our own eyes we have seen it."
O LORD, you have seen13 this; be not silent. Do not be far14 from me, O Lord.
Awake,15 and rise16 to my defense! Contend17 for me, my God and Lord.
Vindicate me in your righteousness, O LORD my God; do not let them gloat18 over me.
Do not let them think, "Aha,19 just what we wanted!" or say, "We have swallowed him up."2026
May all who gloat21 over my distress22 be put to shame23 and confusion; may all who exalt themselves over me24 be clothed with shame and disgrace.
May those who delight in my vindication25 shout for joy26 and gladness; may they always say, "The LORD be exalted, who delights27 in the well-being of his servant."2828
My tongue will speak of your righteousness29 and of your praises all day long.30
