Surely you place them on slippery ground;1 you cast them down to ruin.219
How suddenly3 are they destroyed, completely swept away4 by terrors!
As a dream5 when one awakes,6 so when you arise, O Lord, you will despise them as fantasies.721
When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered,
I was senseless8 and ignorant; I was a brute beast9 before you.
Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.1024
You guide11 me with your counsel,12 and afterward you will take me into glory.
Whom have I in heaven but you?13 And earth has nothing I desire besides you.1426
My flesh and my heart15 may fail,16 but God is the strength17 of my heart and my portion18 forever.
Those who are far from you will perish;19 you destroy all who are unfaithful20 to you.
But as for me, it is good to be near God.21 I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge;22 I will tell of all your deeds.23
