4 For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in 1faithfulness.
5 He 2loves righteousness and justice; 3the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.
6 By 4the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by 5the breath of his mouth all 6their host.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea as 7a heap; he 8puts the deeps in storehouses.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
9 For 9he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
10 The Lord 10brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
11 11The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.
12 12Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has 13chosen as his heritage!
13 The Lord 14looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man;
14 from 15where he sits enthroned he 16looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth,

Psalm 33:4-14 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 33

Though this psalm has no title to it, it seems to be a psalm of David, from the style and matter of it; and indeed begins with the same words with which the preceding psalm is ended. Theodoret is of opinion it was written by David as a prophecy concerning Hezekiah, as a song to be sung by the people after the destruction of the Assyrian army.
