" 'See how each of the princes of Israel who are in you uses his power to shed blood.1

In you they have treated father and mother with contempt;2 in you they have oppressed the alien3 and mistreated the fatherless and the widow.4
8
You have despised my holy things and desecrated my Sabbaths.5

In you are slanderous men6 bent on shedding blood;7 in you are those who eat at the mountain shrines8 and commit lewd acts.9

In you are those who dishonor their fathers' bed;10 in you are those who violate women during their period,11 when they are ceremonially unclean.12

In you one man commits a detestable offense with his neighbor's wife,13 another shamefully defiles his daughter-in-law,14 and another violates his sister,15 his own father's daughter.16

In you men accept bribes17 to shed blood; you take usury18 and excessive interesta and make unjust gain from your neighbors19 by extortion. And you have forgotten20 me, declares the Sovereign LORD.21

" 'I will surely strike my hands22 together at the unjust gain23 you have made and at the blood24 you have shed in your midst.25

Will your courage endure26 or your hands27 be strong in the day I deal with you? I the LORD have spoken,28 and I will do it.29
15
I will disperse you among the nations and scatter30 you through the countries; and I will put an end to31 your uncleanness.32
16
When you have been defiledb in the eyes of the nations, you will know that I am the LORD.' "
