I will establish my covenant12 as an everlasting covenant34 between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God5 and the God of your descendants after you.68
The whole land of Canaan,7 where you are now an alien,8 I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you;9 and I will be their God.10"
Then God said to Abraham, "As for you, you must keep my covenant,11 you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.1210
This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.1311
You are to undergo circumcision,14 and it will be the sign of the covenant15 between me and you.
For the generations to come16 every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised,17 including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner--those who are not your offspring.
Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised.18 My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant.1914
Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised20 in the flesh, will be cut off from his people;21 he has broken my covenant.22"
God also said to Abraham, "As for Sarai23 your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah.2416
I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her.25 I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations;26 kings of peoples will come from her."
Abraham fell facedown;27 he laughed28 and said to himself, "Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old?29 Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?"30
