Isaiah 13:14-22 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
14 Like a hunted1 gazelle, like sheep without a shepherd,2 each will return to his own people, each will flee3 to his native land.4 15 Whoever is captured will be thrust through; all who are caught will fall5 by the sword.6 16 Their infants7 will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives ravished.8 17 See, I will stir up9 against them the Medes,10 who do not care for silver and have no delight in gold.11 18 Their bows12 will strike down the young men;13 they will have no mercy14 on infants nor will they look with compassion on children.15 19 Babylon,16 the jewel of kingdoms,17 the glory18 of the Babylonians'a pride, will be overthrown19 by God like Sodom and Gomorrah.20 20 She will never be inhabited21 or lived in through all generations; no Arab22 will pitch his tent there, no shepherd will rest his flocks there. 21 But desert creatures23 will lie there, jackals24 will fill her houses; there the owls25 will dwell, and there the wild goats26 will leap about. 22 Hyenas27 will howl in her strongholds,28 jackals29 in her luxurious palaces. Her time is at hand,30 and her days will not be prolonged.31
