Isaiah 50:4-9 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
4 The Sovereign LORD 1 has given me an instructed tongue,2 to know the word that sustains the weary.3 He wakens me morning by morning,4 wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.5 5 The Sovereign LORD 6 has opened my ears,7 and I have not been rebellious;8 I have not drawn back. 6 I offered my back to those who beat9 me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard;10 I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting.11 7 Because the Sovereign LORD 12 helps13 me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint,14 and I know I will not be put to shame.15 8 He who vindicates16 me is near.17 Who then will bring charges against me?18 Let us face each other!19 Who is my accuser? Let him confront me! 9 It is the Sovereign LORD 20 who helps21 me. Who is he that will condemn22 me? They will all wear out like a garment; the moths23 will eat them up.
