But he was pierced1 for our transgressions,2 he was crushed3 for our iniquities; the punishment4 that brought us peace5 was upon him, and by his wounds6 we are healed.76
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,8 each of us has turned to his own way;9 and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity10 of us all.
He was oppressed11 and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth;12 he was led like a lamb13 to the slaughter,14 and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
By oppressiona and judgment15 he was taken away. And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living;16 for the transgression17 of my people he was stricken.b
