Isaiah 53:5-8 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
5 But he was pierced1 for our transgressions,2 he was crushed3 for our iniquities; the punishment4 that brought us peace5 was upon him, and by his wounds6 we are healed.7 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,8 each of us has turned to his own way;9 and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity10 of us all. 7 He was oppressed11 and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth;12 he was led like a lamb13 to the slaughter,14 and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppressiona and judgment15 he was taken away. And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living;16 for the transgression17 of my people he was stricken.b
