4Sothey, being sent forthby the HolyGhost, departeduntoSeleucia; and fromthence they sailedtoCyprus.5And when they wereatSalamis, they preached the word of Godin the synagogues of the Jews:and they hadalsoJohn to their minister.6And when they had gone through the isleuntoPaphos, they found a certainsorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew,whosename was Barjesus:7Whichwaswith the deputy of the country,SergiusPaulus, a prudentman;whocalled for BarnabasandSaul, and desired to hear the word of God.8ButElymas the sorcerer (for so is hisname by interpretation ) withstoodthem, seeking to turn away the deputyfrom the faith.9ThenSaul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the HolyGhost , set his eyesonhim,10
And said , Ofull of allsubtiltyandallmischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of allrighteousness, wilt thounotcease to pervert the rightways of the Lord?11Andnow,behold , the hand of the Lord is uponthee, and thou shalt beblind, notseeing the sunfor a season.Andimmediately there fellonhim a mistand a darkness;and he went aboutseeking some to lead him by the hand.12Then the deputy, when he saw what was done , believed , being astonishedat the doctrine of the Lord.13Now when Paul and his companyloosedfromPaphos, they cametoPerga in Pamphylia:andJohndepartingfromthemreturnedtoJerusalem.14But when theydepartedfromPerga, they cametoAntioch in Pisidia, andwent into the synagogue on the sabbathday, and sat down .

The God of thispeople of Israelchoseourfathers, andexalted the peoplewhen they dwelt as strangersin the land of Egypt, andwith an higharm brought hethem out ofit.18Andabout the time of forty years suffered hetheirmannersin the wilderness.19And when he had destroyedsevennationsin the land of Chanaan, he dividedtheirland to them by lot .
20Andafterthat he gave unto them judgesabout the space of four hundredandfiftyyears, untilSamuel the prophet.21
And afterward they desired a king:andGodgave unto themSaul the son of Cis, a manof the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of fortyyears.22And when he had removedhim, he raised up unto themDavid to be their king; to whomalso he gave testimony , and said , I have foundDavid the son of Jesse, a manafter mine ownheart, which shall fulfilallmywill.23Of this man'sseedhathGodaccording to his promiseraised unto Israel a Saviour,Jesus:24
When John had first preachedbeforehiscomingthebaptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.25AndasJohnfulfilled his course, he said , Whom think ye that Iam ? Iamnot he. But,behold , there cometh oneafterme, whoseshoes of his feet I amnotworthy to loose .
26Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever amongyoufearethGod, to youis the word of thissalvationsent .
27For they that dwellatJerusalem, andtheirrulers, because they knewhimnot , nor yet the voices of the prophetswhich are readevery sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.
28And though they foundnocause of death in him, yet desired theyPilate that he should be slain .
29Andwhen they had fulfilledall that was writtenofhim, they took him downfrom the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.30ButGodraisedhimfrom the dead:31
And he was seenmanydays of them which came up withhimfromGalileetoJerusalem, whoarehiswitnessesunto the people.32Andwedeclare unto you glad tidings , how that the promise which was madeunto the fathers,33God hath fulfilled the same unto ustheirchildren, in that he hath raised upJesusagain ; as it isalsowrittenin the secondpsalm,ThouartmySon, this day have Ibegottenthee.34And as concerning that he raisedhimupfrom the dead, now no moretoreturntocorruption, he said on this wise , I will giveyou the suremerciesa of David.35Wherefore he saithalsoinanother psalm, Thou shaltnotsufferthine Holy One to seecorruption.36ForDavid, after he had served his owngeneration by the will of God, fell on sleep , and was laiduntohisfathers,andsawcorruption:37But he, whomGod raised again , sawnocorruption.38
Be itknown unto youtherefore, men and brethren, thatthrough this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:39Andbyhimall that believe are justifiedfrom all things, from which ye couldnot be justifiedby the law of Moses.40Bewaretherefore, lest thatcomeuponyou, which is spoken ofin the prophets;41Behold , ye despisers, andwonder , andperish : forIwork a workinyourdays, a workwhich ye shall in no wisebelieve , though a man declare it unto you.42And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentilesbesought that thesewords might be preached to themthenextbsabbath.43Now when the congregation was broken up , many of the JewsandreligiousproselytesfollowedPaulandBarnabas:who, speaking to them, persuadedthem to continue in the grace of God.44And the next sabbath daycamealmost the wholecitytogether to hear the word of God.45But when the Jewssaw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spokenbyPaul, contradictingandblaspheming .
46ThenPaulandBarnabas waxed bold , and said , It wasnecessary that the word of Godshouldfirst have been spoken to you:butseeing ye putit from you , andjudgeyourselvesunworthyofeverlastinglife,lo , we turnto the Gentiles.47Forsohath the Lordcommandedus, saying, I have setthee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest beforsalvationunto the ends of the earth.48And when the Gentiles heard this , they were glad , andglorified the word of the Lord:and as many aswereordainedtoeternallifebelieved .
49And the word of the Lord was publishedthroughoutall the region.50But the Jews stirred up the devoutandhonourablewomen, and the chief men of the city, andraisedpersecutionagainstPaulandBarnabas, andexpelledthem out oftheircoasts.51But they shook off the dust of theirfeetagainstthem, and cameuntoIconium.52And the disciples were filled withjoy, and with the HolyGhost.
