For you know1the grace of our LordJesusChrist, that 2though He was rich, yet for your sake He becamepoor, so that you through His poverty might becomerich.
I 3give my opinion in this matter, for this is to your advantage, who were the first to begin4a yearago not only to do this, but also to desire to do it.
But nowfinishadoing it also, so that just as there was the 5readiness to desire it, so there may be also the completion of it by your ability.
For if the readiness is present, it is acceptable6according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.
For this is not for the ease of others and for your affliction, but by way of equality -
at thispresenttime your abundance being a supply for 7their need, so that their abundancealso may become a supply for 8your need, that there may be equality;
as it is written, "9HE WHO gathered MUCH DID NOT HAVETOOMUCH, AND HE WHO gathered LITTLEHADNOLACK."
But 10thanks be to God who 11puts the sameearnestness on your behalf in the heart of 12Titus.
For he not onlyaccepted our 13appeal, but beinghimself very earnest, he has gone to you of his ownaccord.
We have sentalong with him 14the brotherwhosefame in the things of the 15gospel has spread through16all the churches;
1917and not only this, but he has also been 18appointed by the churches to travel with us in 19thisgraciouswork, which is being administered by us for the glory of the LordHimself, and to show our 20readiness,
