4 1treacherous, 2reckless, 3conceited, 4lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of a5godliness, although they have 6denied its power; 7Avoid such men as these. 6 For among them are those who b8enter into households and captivate c9weak women weighed down with sins, led on by 10various impulses, 7 always learning and never able to 11come to the dknowledge of the truth. 8 Just as 12Jannes and Jambres 13opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, 14men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. 9 But they will not make further progress; for their 15folly will be obvious to all, just 16as eJannes's and Jambres's folly was also. 10 Now you 17followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, 18love, fperseverance, 11 19persecutions, and 20sufferings, such as happened to me at 21Antioch, at 22Iconium and at 23Lystra; what 24persecutions I endured, and out of them all 25the Lord rescued me! 12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus 26will be persecuted. 13 But evil men and impostors 27will proceed from bad to worse, 28deceiving and being deceived. 14 You, however, 29continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
