Then He cried out in my hearing with a loud1voicesaying, "Drawnear, aO executioners of the city, each with his destroyingweapon in his hand."
2Behold, sixmencame from the direction of the uppergatewhichfacesnorth, each with his shatteringweapon in his hand; and among them was 2a certainmanclothed in linen with a bwritingcase at his loins. And they went in and stoodbeside the bronzealtar.
Then the 3glory of the God of Israelwent up from the cherub on which it had been, to the threshold of the ctemple. And He called to the manclothed in linen at whoseloins was the writingcase.
The LORDsaid to him, "Go through the midst of the city, even through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a 4mark on the foreheads of the men who 5sigh and groanoverall the abominations which are being committed in its midst."
But to the others He said in my hearing, "Go through the cityafter him and strike; do not let your eyehavepity and do not spare.
"dUtterly6slayoldmen, youngmen, maidens, littlechildren, and women, but do not 7touchanyman on whom is the mark; and you shall 8start from My sanctuary." So they started with the eelderswho were before the ftemple.
And He said to them, "9Defile the gtemple and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!" Thus they went out and struckdown the people in the city.
