65Somebegan to 2spit at Him, and a3to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists, and to say to Him, "4Prophesy!" And the officersbreceived Him with cslaps in the face.
665As Peter was below in 6the courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the highpriestcame,
and seeingPeter7warming himself, she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus the 8Nazarene."
But he denied it, saying, "I neitherknownorunderstandwhat you are talking about." And he 9went out onto the dporch.e and a roostercrowed.#2871
The servant-girlsaw him, and beganoncemore to say to the bystanders, "This is one of them!"
But again10he denied it. And after a littlewhile the bystanders were againsaying to Peter, "Surely you are one of them, 11for you are a Galileantoo."
But he began to fcurse and swear, "I do not knowthisman you are talking about!"
72Immediately a roostercrowed a secondtime. And PeterrememberedhowJesus had made the remark to him, "Before12a roostercrowstwice, you will deny Me threetimes."gAnd he began to weep.
