The Patmos Vision
930I, John, your 31brother and 32fellowpartaker in the tribulation and 33kingdom and g34perseverance which are in Jesus, was on the islandcalledPatmos35because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
10
I was h36in the Spirit on 37the Lord'sday, and I heardbehind me a loudvoice38like the sound of a trumpet,
11saying, "39Write in a ibookwhat you see, and send it to the 40sevenchurches : to 41Ephesus and to 42Smyrna and to 43Pergamum and to 44Thyatira and to 45Sardis and to 46Philadelphia and to 47Laodicea."12Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw48sevengoldenlampstands ;
13
and 49in the middle of the lampstands I saw one50likeja son of man, 51clothed in a robereaching to the feet, and 52girdedacross His chest with a goldensash.
14
His head and His 53hair were whitelikewhitewool, likesnow ; and 54His eyes were like a flame of fire.
15
His 55feet were likeburnishedbronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His 56voice was like the sound of manywaters.
16
In His righthand He held57sevenstars, and out of His mouthcame a 58sharptwo-edgedsword ; and His 59face was like60the sunkshining in its strength.
17When I saw Him, I 61fell at His feetlike a deadman. And He 62placed His righthand on me, saying, "63Do not be afraid ; 64I am the first and the last,18and the 65living One; and I l66was dead, and behold, I amaliveforevermore, and I have67the keys of death and of Hades.19"Therefore68write69the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will takeplace70afterthesethings.20"As for the 71mystery of the 72sevenstarswhich you saw in My righthand, and the 73sevengoldenlampstands : the 74sevenstars are the angels of 75the sevenchurches, and the seven76lampstands are the sevenchurches.
