22 aWhat if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much 1patience vessels of wrath 2prepared for destruction? 23 And He did so to make known 3the riches of His glory upon 4vessels of mercy, which He 5prepared beforehand for glory, 24 even us, whom He also 6called, 7not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles. 25 As He says also in Hosea, "8I WILL CALL THOSE WHO WERE NOT MY PEOPLE, 'MY PEOPLE,' AND HER WHO WAS NOT BELOVED, 'BELOVED.' " 26 "9AND IT SHALL BE THAT IN THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS SAID TO THEM, 'YOU ARE NOT MY PEOPLE,' THERE THEY SHALL BE CALLED SONS OF 10THE LIVING GOD." 27 Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, "11THOUGH THE NUMBER OF THE SONS OF ISRAEL BE 12LIKE THE SAND OF THE SEA, IT IS 13THE REMNANT THAT WILL BE SAVED; 28 14FOR THE LORD WILL EXECUTE HIS WORD ON THE EARTH, bTHOROUGHLY AND cQUICKLY." 29 And just as Isaiah foretold, "15UNLESS 16THE LORD OF dSABAOTH HAD LEFT TO US A ePOSTERITY, 17WE WOULD HAVE BECOME LIKE SODOM, AND WOULD HAVE fRESEMBLED GOMORRAH." 30 18What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even 19the righteousness which is gby faith; 31 but Israel, 20pursuing a law of righteousness, did not 21arrive at that law. 32 Why ? Because they did not pursue it hby faith, but as though it were iby works. They stumbled over 22the stumbling stone,
