Douay-Rheims (RHE) New International Version (NIV)
Therefore if you be risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. 1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Mind the things that are above, not the things that are upon the earth. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
For you are dead: and your life is hid with Christ in God. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ shall appear, who is your life, then you also shall appear with him in glory. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil concupiscence and covetousness, which is the service of idols. 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
For which things the wrath of God cometh upon the children of unbelief. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
In which you also walked some time, when you lived in them. 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.
But now put you also all away: anger, indignation, malice, blasphemy, filthy speech out of your mouth. 8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Lie not one to another: stripping yourselves of the old man with his deeds, 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices
And putting on the new, him who is renewed unto knowledge, according to the image of him that created him. 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
Where there is neither Gentile nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian nor Scythian, bond nor free. But Christ is all and in all. 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
Put ye on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, the bowels of mercy, benignity, humility, modesty, patience: 12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if any have a complaint against another. Even as the Lord hath forgiven you, so do you also. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
But above all these things have charity, which is the bond of perfection. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
And let the peace of Christ rejoice in your hearts, wherein also you are called in one body: and be ye thankful. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you abundantly: in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual canticles, singing in grace in your hearts to God. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Wives, be subject to your husbands, as it behoveth in the Lord. 18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and be not bitter towards them. 19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing to the Lord. 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, provoke not your children to indignation, lest they be discouraged. 21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh: not serving to the eye, as pleasing men: but in simplicity of heart, fearing God. 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord.
Whatsoever you do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men: 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,
Knowing that you shall receive of the Lord the reward of inheritance. Serve ye the Lord Christ. 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
For he that doth wrong shall receive for that which he hath done wrongfully. And there is no respect of persons with God. 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.
