1 Se dunque v’è qualche consolazione in Cristo, se v’è qualche conforto d’amore, se v’è qualche comunione di Spirito, se v’è qualche tenerezza d’affetto e qualche compassione,
|
1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,
|
|
2 rendente perfetta la mia allegrezza, avendo un medesimo sentimento, un medesimo amore, essendo d’un animo, di un unico sentire;
|
2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
|
|
3 non facendo nulla per spirito di parte o per vanagloria, ma ciascun di voi, con umiltà, stimando altrui da più di se stesso,
|
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
|
|
4 avendo ciascun di voi riguardo non alle cose proprie, ma anche a quelle degli altri.
|
4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
|
|
5 Abbiate in voi lo stesso sentimento che è stato in Cristo Gesù;
|
5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
|
|
6 il quale, essendo in forma di Dio non riputò rapina l’essere uguale a Dio,
|
6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
|
|
7 ma annichilì se stesso, prendendo forma di servo e divenendo simile agli uomini;
|
7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
|
|
8 ed essendo trovato nell’esteriore come un uomo, abbassò se stesso, facendosi ubbidiente fino alla morte, e alla morte della croce.
|
8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross!
|
|
9 Ed è perciò che Dio lo ha sovranamente innalzato e gli ha dato il nome che è al di sopra d’ogni nome,
|
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
|
|
10 affinché nel nome di Gesù si pieghi ogni ginocchio nei cieli, sulla terra e sotto la terra,
|
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
|
|
11 e ogni lingua confessi che Gesù Cristo è il Signore, alla gloria di Dio Padre.
|
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
|
|
12 Così, miei cari, come sempre siete stati ubbidienti, non solo come s’io fossi presente, ma molto più adesso che sono assente, compiete la vostra salvezza con timore e tremore;
|
12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,
|
|
13 poiché Dio è quel che opera in voi il volere e l’operare, per la sua benevolenza.
|
13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
|
|
14 Fate ogni cosa senza mormorii e senza dispute,
|
14 Do everything without complaining or arguing,
|
|
15 affinché siate irreprensibili e schietti, figliuoli di Dio senza biasimo in mezzo a una generazione storta e perversa, nella quale voi risplendete come luminari nel mondo, tenendo alta la Parola della vita,
|
15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe
|
|
16 onde nel giorno di Cristo io abbia da gloriarmi di non aver corso invano, né invano faticato.
|
16 as you hold out the word of life--in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.
|
|
17 E se anche io debba essere offerto a mo’ di libazione sul sacrificio e sul servigio della vostra fede, io ne gioisco e me ne rallegro con tutti voi;
|
17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
|
|
18 e nello stesso modo gioitene anche voi e rallegratevene meco.
|
18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.
|
|
19 Or io spero nel Signor Gesù di mandarvi tosto Timoteo affinché io pure sia incoraggiato, ricevendo notizie dello stato vostro.
|
19 I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you.
|
|
20 Perché non ho alcuno d’animo pari al suo, che abbia sinceramente a cuore quel che vi concerne.
|
20 I have no one else like him, who takes a genuine interest in your welfare.
|
|
21 Poiché tutti cercano il loro proprio; non ciò che è di Cristo Gesù.
|
21 For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.
|
|
22 Ma voi lo conoscete per prova, poiché nella maniera che un figliuolo serve al padre egli ha servito meco nella causa del Vangelo.
|
22 But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel.
|
|
23 Spero dunque di mandarvelo, appena avrò veduto come andranno i fatti miei;
|
23 I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me.
|
|
24 ma ho fiducia nel Signore che io pure verrò presto.
|
24 And I am confident in the Lord that I myself will come soon.
|
|
25 Però ho stimato necessario di mandarvi Epafròdito, mio fratello, mio collaboratore e commilitone, inviatomi da voi per supplire ai miei bisogni,
|
25 But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs.
|
|
26 giacché egli avea gran brama di vedervi tutti ed era angosciato perché avevate udito ch’egli era stato infermo.
|
26 For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill.
|
|
27 E difatti è stato infermo, e ben vicino alla morte; ma Iddio ha avuto pietà di lui; e non soltanto di lui, ma anche di me, perch’io non avessi tristezza sopra tristezza.
|
27 Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow.
|
|
28 Perciò ve l’ho mandato con tanta maggior premura, affinché, vedendolo di nuovo, vi rallegriate, e anch’io sia men rattristato.
|
28 Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety.
|
|
29 Accoglietelo dunque nel Signore con ogni allegrezza, e abbiate stima di uomini cosiffatti;
|
29 Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him,
|
|
30 perché, per l’opera di Cristo egli è stato vicino alla morte, avendo arrischiata la propria vita per supplire ai servizi che non potevate rendermi voi stessi.
|
30 because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for the help you could not give me.
