Douay-Rheims (RHE) New International Version (NIV)
And God blessed Noe and his sons. And he said to them: Increase, and multiply, and fill the earth. 1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.
And let the fear and dread of you be upon all the beasts of the earth, and upon all the fowls of the air, and all that move upon the earth: all the fishes of the sea are delivered into your hand. 2 The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands.
And every thing that moveth, and liveth shall be meat for you: even as the green herbs have I delivered them all to you: 3 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
Saving that flesh with blood you shall not eat. 4 "But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.
For I will require the blood of your lives at the hand of every beast, and at the hand of man, at the hand of every man, and of his brother, will I require the life of man. 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.
Whosoever shall shed man’s blood, his blood shall be shed: for man was made to the image of God. 6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.
But increase you and multiply, and go upon the earth and fill it. 7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it."
Thus also said God to Noe, and to his sons with him: 8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him:
Behold I will establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you: 9 "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you
And with every living soul that is with you, as well in all birds, as in cattle and beasts of the earth, that are come forth out of the ark, and in all the beasts of the earth. 10 and with every living creature that was with you--the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you--every living creature on earth.
I will establish my covenant with you, and all flesh shall be no more destroyed with the waters of a flood, neither shall there be from henceforth a flood to waste the earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth."
And God said: This is the sign of the covenant which I give between me and you, and to every living soul that is with you, for perpetual generations. 12 And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:
I will set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be the sign of a covenant between me and between the earth. 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
And when I shall cover the sky with clouds, my bow shall appear in the clouds: 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,
And I will remember my covenant with you, and with every living soul that beareth flesh: and there shall no more be waters of a flood to destroy all flesh. 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
And the bow shall be in the clouds, and I shall see it, and shall remember the everlasting covenant, that was made between God and every living soul of all flesh which is upon the earth. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."
And God said to Noe: This shall be the sign of the covenant, which I have established, between me and all flesh upon the earth. 17 So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth."
And the sons of Noe, who came out of the ark, were Sem, Cham, and Japheth: and Cham is the father of Chanaan. 18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.)
These three are the sons of Noe: and from these was all mankind spread over the whole earth. 19 These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the earth.
And Noe a husbandman began to till the ground, and planted a vineyard. 20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard.
And drinking of the wine was made drunk, and was uncovered in his tent. 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent.
Which when Cham the father of Chanaan had seen, to wit, that his father’s nakedness was uncovered, he told it to his two brethren without. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside.
But Sem and Japheth put a cloak upon their shoulders, and going backward, covered the nakedness of their father: and their faces were turned away, and they saw not their father’s nakedness. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father's nakedness.
And Noe awaking from the wine, when he had learned what his younger son had done to him, 24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him,
He said: Cursed be Chanaan, a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. 25 he said, "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers."
And he said: Blessed be the Lord God of Sem, be Chanaan his servant. 26 He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem.
May God enlarge Japheth, and may he dwell in the tents of Sem, and Chanaan be his servant. 27 May God extend the territory of Japheth; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave."
And Noe lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years. 28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years.
And all his days were in the whole nine hundred and fifty years: and he died. 29 Altogether, Noah lived 950 years, and then he died.
