1 GUAI a coloro che scendono in Egitto per soccorso, e si appoggiano sopra cavalli, e si confidano in carri, perchè son molti; e in cavalieri, perchè sono in grandissimo numero; e non riguardano al Santo d’Israele, e non cercano il Signore!
|
1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the LORD.
|
|
2 E pure anch’egli è savio, ed ha fatto venire il male, e non ha rivocate le sue parole, e si è levato contro alla casa de’ maligni, e contro al soccorso degli operatori di iniquità.
|
2 Yet he too is wise and can bring disaster; he does not take back his words. He will rise up against the house of the wicked, against those who help evildoers.
|
|
3 Ma gli Egizi sono uomini, e non Dio; ed i lor cavalli son carne, e non ispirito. E il Signore stenderà la sua mano; onde l’aiutatore traboccherà, e l’aiutato caderà; e tutti insieme saran consumati.
|
3 But the Egyptians are men and not God; their horses are flesh and not spirit. When the LORD stretches out his hand, he who helps will stumble, he who is helped will fall; both will perish together.
|
|
4 Ma, così mi ha detto il Signore: Siccome il leone ed il leoncello freme sopra la preda; e benchè si raduni a grida una moltitudine di pastori contro a lui, non però si spaventa per le lor grida, e non si umilia per lo strepito loro; così scenderà il Signor degli eserciti, per guerreggiare per lo monte di Sion, e per lo colle di essa.

4 This is what the LORD says to me: "As a lion growls, a great lion over his prey-- and though a whole band of shepherds is called together against him, he is not frightened by their shouts or disturbed by their clamor-- so the LORD Almighty will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights.

5 Come gli uccelli, volando, coprono i lor figli, così il Signor degli eserciti farà riparo a Gerusalemme; facendole riparo, e riscotendola; passando, e salvandola.

5 Like birds hovering overhead, the LORD Almighty will shield Jerusalem; he will shield it and deliver it, he will 'pass over' it and will rescue it."

6 Convertitevi a colui, dal quale i figliuoli di Israele si sono profondamente rivolti.
|
6 Return to him you have so greatly revolted against, O Israelites.
|
|
7 Perciocchè in quel giorno ciascuno avrà a schifo gl’idoli del suo argento, e gl’idoli del suo oro, i quali le vostre mani vi hanno fatti a peccato.
|
7 For in that day every one of you will reject the idols of silver and gold your sinful hands have made.
|
|
8 Ed Assur caderà per la spada, non di un uomo; e il coltello, non di una persona umana, lo divorerà; ed egli se ne fuggirà d’innanzi alla spada, e i suoi giovani saran disfatti.
|
8 "Assyria will fall by a sword that is not of man; a sword, not of mortals, will devour them. They will flee before the sword and their young men will be put to forced labor.

|
9 Ed egli passerà nella sua rocca per paura, e i suoi principi saranno spaventati per la bandiera, dice il Signore, il cui fuoco è in Sion, e la fornace in Gerusalemme.
|
9 Their stronghold will fall because of terror; at sight of the battle standard their commanders will panic," declares the LORD, whose fire is in Zion, whose furnace is in Jerusalem.
