Hebrew Names Version (HNV) New International Version (NIV)
This is what Yesha`yahu the son of Amotz saw concerning Yehudah and Yerushalayim. 1 This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:
It shall happen in the latter days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be raised above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it. 2 In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.
Many peoples shall go and say, "Come, let's go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Ya`akov; And he will teach us of his ways, And we will walk in his paths. For out of Tziyon the law shall go forth, And the word of the LORD from Yerushalayim. 3 Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
He will judge between the nations, And will decide concerning many peoples; And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning-hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war any more. 4 He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.
House of Ya`akov, come, and let us walk in the light of the LORD. 5 Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.
For you have forsaken your people, the house of Ya`akov, Because they are filled from the east, With those who practice divination like the Pelishtim, And they clasp hands with the children of foreigners. 6 You have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob. They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and clasp hands with pagans.
Their land is full of silver and gold, Neither is there any end of their treasures. Their land also is full of horses, Neither is there any end of their chariots. 7 Their land is full of silver and gold; there is no end to their treasures. Their land is full of horses; there is no end to their chariots.
Their land also is full of idols. They worship the work of their own hands, That which their own fingers have made. 8 Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their fingers have made.
Man is brought low, And mankind is humbled; Therefore don't forgive them. 9 So man will be brought low and mankind humbled-- do not forgive them.
Enter into the rock, And hide in the dust, From before the terror of the LORD, And from the glory of his majesty. 10 Go into the rocks, hide in the ground from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty!
The lofty looks of man will be brought low, The haughtiness of men will be bowed down, And the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. 11 The eyes of the arrogant man will be humbled and the pride of men brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.
For there will be a day of the LORD of Hosts for all that is proud and haughty, And for all that is lifted up; And it shall be brought low: 12 The LORD Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled),
For all the cedars of Levanon, that are high and lifted up, For all the oaks of Bashan, 13 for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty, and all the oaks of Bashan,
For all the high mountains, For all the hills that are lifted up, 14 for all the towering mountains and all the high hills,
For every lofty tower, For every fortified wall, 15 for every lofty tower and every fortified wall,
For all the ships of Tarshish, And for all pleasant imagery. 16 for every trading ship and every stately vessel.
The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; And the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. 17 The arrogance of man will be brought low and the pride of men humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,
The idols shall utterly pass away. 18 and the idols will totally disappear.
Men shall go into the caves of the rocks, And into the holes of the eretz, From before the terror of the LORD, And from the glory of his majesty, When he arises to shake the eretz mightily. 19 Men will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.
In that day, men shall cast away their idols of silver, And their idols of gold, Which have been made for themselves to worship, To the moles and to the bats; 20 In that day men will throw away to the rodents and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship.
To go into the caverns of the rocks, And into the clefts of the ragged rocks, From before the terror of the LORD, And from the glory of his majesty, When he arises to shake the eretz mightily. 21 They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.
Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he? 22 Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?
