New King James Version (NKJV) New International Version (NIV)
Moreover the Lord answered Job, and said: 1 The LORD said to Job:
"Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? He who rebukes God, let him answer it." 2 "Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!"
Then Job answered the Lord and said: 3 Then Job answered the LORD:
"Behold, I am vile; What shall I answer You? I lay my hand over my mouth. 4 "I am unworthy--how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth.
Once I have spoken, but I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further." 5 I spoke once, but I have no answer-- twice, but I will say no more."
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: 6 Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm:
"Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me: 7 "Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
"Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified? 8 "Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself ?
Have you an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like His? 9 Do you have an arm like God's, and can your voice thunder like his?
Then adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, And array yourself with glory and beauty. 10 Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.
Disperse the rage of your wrath; Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him. 11 Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at every proud man and bring him low,
Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low; Tread down the wicked in their place. 12 look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand.
Hide them in the dust together, Bind their faces in hidden darkness. 13 Bury them all in the dust together; shroud their faces in the grave.
Then I will also confess to you That your own right hand can save you. 14 Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you.
"Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you; He eats grass like an ox. 15 "Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox.
See now, his strength is in his hips, And his power is in his stomach muscles. 16 What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly!
He moves his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. 17 His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.
His bones are like beams of bronze, His ribs like bars of iron. 18 His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron.
He is the first of the ways of God; Only He who made him can bring near His sword. 19 He ranks first among the works of God, yet his Maker can approach him with his sword.
Surely the mountains yield food for him, And all the beasts of the field play there. 20 The hills bring him their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby.
He lies under the lotus trees, In a covert of reeds and marsh. 21 Under the lotus plants he lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
The lotus trees cover him with their shade; The willows by the brook surround him. 22 The lotuses conceal him in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround him.
Indeed the river may rage, Yet he is not disturbed; He is confident, though the Jordan gushes into his mouth, 23 When the river rages, he is not alarmed; he is secure, though the Jordan should surge against his mouth.
Though he takes it in his eyes, Or one pierces his nose with a snare. 24 Can anyone capture him by the eyes, or trap him and pierce his nose?
