The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe on God, believe also on me. 1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
In my Father's house there are many abodes; were it not so, I had told you: for I go to prepare you a place; 2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
and if I go and shall prepare you a place, I am coming again and shall receive you to myself, that where I am ye also may be. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
And ye know where I go, and ye know the way. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going."
Thomas says to him, Lord, we know not where thou goest, and how can we know the way? 5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father unless by me. 6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
If ye had known me, ye would have known also my Father, and henceforth ye know him and have seen him. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."
Philip says to him, Lord, shew us the Father and it suffices us. 8 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us."
Jesus says to him, Am I so long a time with you, and thou hast not known me, Philip? He that has seen me has seen the Father; and how sayest thou, Shew us the Father? 9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
Believest thou not that I [am] in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words which I speak to you I do not speak from myself; but the Father who abides in me, he does the works. 10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
Believe *me* that I [am] in the Father and the Father in me; but if not, believe me for the works' sake themselves. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes on me, the works which I do shall he do also, and he shall do greater than these, because I go to the Father. 12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, this will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
If ye love me, keep my commandments. 15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command.
And I will beg the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever--
the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him nor know him; but ye know him, for he abides with you, and shall be in you. 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
I will not leave you orphans, I am coming to you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Yet a little and the world sees me no longer; but ye see me; because I live ye also shall live. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
In that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; but he that loves me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."
Judas, not the Iscariote, says to him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself to us and not to the world? 22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?"
Jesus answered and said to him, If any one love me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our abode with him. 23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
He that loves me not does not keep my words; and the word which ye hear is not mine, but [that] of the Father who has sent me. 24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
These things I have said to you, abiding with you; 25 "All this I have spoken while still with you.
but the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, *he* shall teach you all things, and will bring to your remembrance all the things which I have said to you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
I leave peace with you; I give *my* peace to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it fear. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Ye have heard that I have said unto you, I go away and I am coming to you. If ye loved me ye would rejoice that I go to the Father, for [my] Father is greater than I. 28 "You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it shall have come to pass ye may believe. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.
I will no longer speak much with you, for the ruler of the world comes, and in me he has nothing; 30 I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me,
but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father has commanded me, thus I do. Rise up, let us go hence. 31 but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me. "Come now; let us leave.
