Common English Bible (CEB) New International Version (NIV)
When Jesus finished saying these things, he looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, so that the Son can glorify you. 1 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.
You gave him authority over everyone so that he could give eternal life to everyone you gave him. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.
This is eternal life: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you sent. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
I have glorified you on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.
Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I shared with you before the world was created. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
“I have revealed your name to the people you gave me from this world. They were yours and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 6 "I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word.
Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you.
This is because I gave them the words that you gave me, and they received them. They truly understood that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.
“I'm praying for them. I'm not praying for the world but for those you gave me, because they are yours. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.
Everything that is mine is yours and everything that is yours is mine; I have been glorified in them. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them.
I'm no longer in the world, but they are in the world, even as I'm coming to you. Holy Father, watch over them in your name, the name you gave me, that they will be one just as we are one. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name--the name you gave me--so that they may be one as we are one.
When I was with them, I watched over them in your name, the name you gave to me, and I kept them safe. None of them were lost, except the one who was destined for destruction, so that scripture would be fulfilled. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
Now I'm coming to you and I say these things while I'm in the world so that they can share completely in my joy. 13 "I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.
I gave your word to them and the world hated them, because they don't belong to this world, just as I don't belong to this world. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.
I'm not asking that you take them out of this world but that you keep them safe from the evil one. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.
They don't belong to this world, just as I don't belong to this world. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.
Make them holy in the truth; your word is truth. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.
I made myself holy on their behalf so that they also would be made holy in the truth. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
“I'm not praying only for them but also for those who believe in me because of their word. 20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,
I pray they will be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. I pray that they also will be in us, so that the world will believe that you sent me. 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
I've given them the glory that you gave me so that they can be one just as we are one. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one:
I'm in them and you are in me so that they will be made perfectly one. Then the world will know that you sent me and that you have loved them just as you loved me. 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
“Father, I want those you gave me to be with me where I am. Then they can see my glory, which you gave me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 24 "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
"Righteous Father, even the world didn't know you, but I've known you, and these believers know that you sent me. 25 "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.
I've made your name known to them and will continue to make it known so that your love for me will be in them, and I myself will be in them." 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."
