And the LORD said to Moses, 1 The LORD said to Moses,
"Tell Aaron and his sons to keep away from the holy things of the people of Israel, which they dedicate to me, so that they may not profane my holy name; I am the LORD. 2 "Tell Aaron and his sons to treat with respect the sacred offerings the Israelites consecrate to me, so they will not profane my holy name. I am the LORD.
Say to them, 'If any one of all your descendants throughout your generations approaches the holy things, which the people of Israel dedicate to the LORD, while he has an uncleanness, that person shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD. 3 "Say to them: 'For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the LORD.
None of the line of Aaron who is a leper or suffers a discharge may eat of the holy things until he is clean. Whoever touches anything that is unclean through contact with the dead or a man who has had an emission of semen, 4 " 'If a descendant of Aaron has an infectious skin disease or a bodily discharge, he may not eat the sacred offerings until he is cleansed. He will also be unclean if he touches something defiled by a corpse or by anyone who has an emission of semen,
and whoever touches a creeping thing by which he may be made unclean or a man from whom he may take uncleanness, whatever his uncleanness may be-- 5 or if he touches any crawling thing that makes him unclean, or any person who makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be.
the person who touches any such shall be unclean until the evening and shall not eat of the holy things unless he has bathed his body in water. 6 The one who touches any such thing will be unclean till evening. He must not eat any of the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water.
When the sun is down he shall be clean; and afterward he may eat of the holy things, because such are his food. 7 When the sun goes down, he will be clean, and after that he may eat the sacred offerings, for they are his food.
That which dies of itself or is torn by beasts he shall not eat, defiling himself by it: I am the LORD.' 8 He must not eat anything found dead or torn by wild animals, and so become unclean through it. I am the LORD.
They shall therefore keep my charge, lest they bear sin for it and die thereby when they profane it: I am the LORD who sanctify them. 9 " 'The priests are to keep my requirements so that they do not become guilty and die for treating them with contempt. I am the LORD, who makes them holy.
"An outsider shall not eat of a holy thing. A sojourner of the priest's or a hired servant shall not eat of a holy thing; 10 " 'No one outside a priest's family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired worker eat it.
but if a priest buys a slave as his property for money, the slave may eat of it; and those that are born in his house may eat of his food. 11 But if a priest buys a slave with money, or if a slave is born in his household, that slave may eat his food.
If a priest's daughter is married to an outsider she shall not eat of the offering of the holy things. 12 If a priest's daughter marries anyone other than a priest, she may not eat any of the sacred contributions.
But if a priest's daughter is a widow or divorced, and has no child, and returns to her father's house, as in her youth, she may eat of her father's food; yet no outsider shall eat of it. 13 But if a priest's daughter becomes a widow or is divorced, yet has no children, and she returns to live in her father's house as in her youth, she may eat of her father's food. No unauthorized person, however, may eat any of it.
And if a man eats of a holy thing unwittingly, he shall add the fifth of its value to it, and give the holy thing to the priest. 14 " 'If anyone eats a sacred offering by mistake, he must make restitution to the priest for the offering and add a fifth of the value to it.
The priests shall not profane the holy things of the people of Israel, which they offer to the LORD, 15 The priests must not desecrate the sacred offerings the Israelites present to the LORD
and so cause them to bear iniquity and guilt, by eating their holy things: for I am the LORD who sanctify them." 16 by allowing them to eat the sacred offerings and so bring upon them guilt requiring payment. I am the LORD, who makes them holy.' "
And the LORD said to Moses, 17 The LORD said to Moses,
"Say to Aaron and his sons and all the people of Israel, When any one of the house of Israel or of the sojourners in Israel presents his offering, whether in payment of a vow or as a freewill offering which is offered to the LORD as a burnt offering, 18 "Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: 'If any of you--either an Israelite or an alien living in Israel--presents a gift for a burnt offering to the LORD, either to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering,
to be accepted you shall offer a male without blemish, of the bulls or the sheep or the goats. 19 you must present a male without defect from the cattle, sheep or goats in order that it may be accepted on your behalf.
You shall not offer anything that has a blemish, for it will not be acceptable for you. 20 Do not bring anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf.
And when any one offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD, to fulfil a vow or as a freewill offering, from the herd or from the flock, to be accepted it must be perfect; there shall be no blemish in it. 21 When anyone brings from the herd or flock a fellowship offering to the LORD to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, it must be without defect or blemish to be acceptable.
Animals blind or disabled or mutilated or having a discharge or an itch or scabs, you shall not offer to the LORD or make of them an offering by fire upon the altar to the LORD. 22 Do not offer to the LORD the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as an offering made to the LORD by fire.
A bull or a lamb which has a part too long or too short you may present for a freewill offering; but for a votive offering it cannot be accepted. 23 You may, however, present as a freewill offering an ox or a sheep that is deformed or stunted, but it will not be accepted in fulfillment of a vow.
Any animal which has its testicles bruised or crushed or torn or cut, you shall not offer to the LORD or sacrifice within your land; 24 You must not offer to the LORD an animal whose testicles are bruised, crushed, torn or cut. You must not do this in your own land,
neither shall you offer as the bread of your God any such animals gotten from a foreigner. Since there is a blemish in them, because of their mutilation, they will not be accepted for you." 25 and you must not accept such animals from the hand of a foreigner and offer them as the food of your God. They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are deformed and have defects.' "
And the LORD said to Moses, 26 The LORD said to Moses,
"When a bull or sheep or goat is born, it shall remain seven days with its mother; and from the eighth day on it shall be acceptable as an offering by fire to the LORD. 27 "When a calf, a lamb or a goat is born, it is to remain with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as an offering made to the LORD by fire.
And whether the mother is a cow or a ewe, you shall not kill both her and her young in one day. 28 Do not slaughter a cow or a sheep and its young on the same day.
And when you sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the LORD, you shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted. 29 "When you sacrifice a thank offering to the LORD, sacrifice it in such a way that it will be accepted on your behalf.
It shall be eaten on the same day, you shall leave none of it until morning: I am the LORD. 30 It must be eaten that same day; leave none of it till morning. I am the LORD.
"So you shall keep my commandments and do them: I am the LORD. 31 "Keep my commands and follow them. I am the LORD.
And you shall not profane my holy name, but I will be hallowed among the people of Israel; I am the LORD who sanctify you, 32 Do not profane my holy name. I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the LORD, who makes you holy
who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the LORD." 33 and who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD."
