Hebrew Names Version (HNV) New International Version (NIV)
The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, 1 The LORD said to Moses,
"Speak to the children of Yisra'el, and tell them: When either man or woman shall make a special vow, the vow of a Nazir, to separate himself to the LORD, 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'If a man or woman wants to make a special vow, a vow of separation to the LORD as a Nazirite,
he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink. He shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of fermented drink, neither shall he drink any juice of grapes, nor eat fresh grapes or dried. 3 he must abstain from wine and other fermented drink and must not drink vinegar made from wine or from other fermented drink. He must not drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins.
All the days of his separation he shall eat nothing that is made of the grapevine, from the seeds even to the skins. 4 As long as he is a Nazirite, he must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, not even the seeds or skins.
"All the days of his vow of separation there shall no razor come on his head, until the days are fulfilled, in which he separates himself to the LORD. He shall be holy. He shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow long. 5 " 'During the entire period of his vow of separation no razor may be used on his head. He must be holy until the period of his separation to the LORD is over; he must let the hair of his head grow long.
"All the days that he separates himself to the LORD he shall not go near a dead body. 6 Throughout the period of his separation to the LORD he must not go near a dead body.
He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die; because his separation to God is on his head. 7 Even if his own father or mother or brother or sister dies, he must not make himself ceremonially unclean on account of them, because the symbol of his separation to God is on his head.
All the days of his separation he is holy to the LORD. 8 Throughout the period of his separation he is consecrated to the LORD.
"If any man dies very suddenly beside him, and he defiles the head of his separation; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing. On the seventh day he shall shave it. 9 " 'If someone dies suddenly in his presence, thus defiling the hair he has dedicated, he must shave his head on the day of his cleansing--the seventh day.
On the eighth day he shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the Kohen, to the door of the Tent of Meeting. 10 Then on the eighth day he must bring two doves or two young pigeons to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
The Kohen shall offer one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, and make atonement for him, because he sinned by reason of the dead, and shall make his head holy that same day. 11 The priest is to offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to make atonement for him because he sinned by being in the presence of the dead body. That same day he is to consecrate his head.
He shall separate to the LORD the days of his separation, and shall bring a male lamb a year old for a trespass offering; but the former days shall be void, because his separation was defiled. 12 He must dedicate himself to the LORD for the period of his separation and must bring a year-old male lamb as a guilt offering. The previous days do not count, because he became defiled during his separation.
"This is the law of the Nazir: when the days of his separation are fulfilled, he shall be brought to the door of the Tent of Meeting, 13 " 'Now this is the law for the Nazirite when the period of his separation is over. He is to be brought to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
and he shall offer his offering to the LORD, one male lamb a year old without blemish for a burnt offering, and one ewe lamb a year old without blemish for a sin offering, and one ram without blemish for shalom offerings, 14 There he is to present his offerings to the LORD: a year-old male lamb without defect for a burnt offering, a year-old ewe lamb without defect for a sin offering, a ram without defect for a fellowship offering,
and a basket of matzah, cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and their meal offering, and their drink offerings. 15 together with their grain offerings and drink offerings, and a basket of bread made without yeast--cakes made of fine flour mixed with oil, and wafers spread with oil.
The Kohen shall present them before the LORD, and shall offer his sin offering, and his burnt offering. 16 " 'The priest is to present them before the LORD and make the sin offering and the burnt offering.
He shall offer the ram for a sacrifice of shalom offerings to the LORD, with the basket of matzah. The Kohen shall offer also its meal offering, and its drink offering. 17 He is to present the basket of unleavened bread and is to sacrifice the ram as a fellowship offering to the LORD, together with its grain offering and drink offering.
The Nazir shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the Tent of Meeting, and shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it on the fire which is under the sacrifice of shalom offerings. 18 " 'Then at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, the Nazirite must shave off the hair that he dedicated. He is to take the hair and put it in the fire that is under the sacrifice of the fellowship offering.
The Kohen shall take the boiled shoulder of the ram, and one unleavened cake out of the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and shall put them on the hands of the Nazir, after he has shaved the head of his separation; 19 " 'After the Nazirite has shaved off the hair of his dedication, the priest is to place in his hands a boiled shoulder of the ram, and a cake and a wafer from the basket, both made without yeast.
and the Kohen shall wave them for a wave offering before the LORD. This is holy for the Kohen, together with the breast that is waved and the thigh that is offered. After that the Nazir may drink wine. 20 The priest shall then wave them before the LORD as a wave offering; they are holy and belong to the priest, together with the breast that was waved and the thigh that was presented. After that, the Nazirite may drink wine.
"This is the law of the Nazir who vows, and of his offering to the LORD for his separation, besides that which he is able to get. According to his vow which he vows, so he must do after the law of his separation." 21 " 'This is the law of the Nazirite who vows his offering to the LORD in accordance with his separation, in addition to whatever else he can afford. He must fulfill the vow he has made, according to the law of the Nazirite.' "
The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, 22 The LORD said to Moses,
"Speak to Aharon and to his sons, saying, 'This is how you shall bless the children of Yisra'el.' You shall tell them, 23 "Tell Aaron and his sons, 'This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:
'The LORD bless you, and keep you. 24 " ' "The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make his face to shine on you, And be gracious to you. 25 the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up his face toward you, And give you shalom.' 26 the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace." '
"So they shall put my name on the children of Yisra'el; and I will bless them." 27 "So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them."
