1 Gli empi fuggono, senza che alcuno li perseguiti; Ma i giusti stanno sicuri, come un leoncello.
|
1 The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
|
|
2 Come il paese, per li suoi misfatti, cangia spesso di principe; Così, per amor degli uomini savi ed intendenti, Il principe vive lungamente.
|
2 When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers, but a man of understanding and knowledge maintains order.
|
|
3 L’uomo povero, che oppressa i miseri, È come una pioggia strabocchevole, che fa che non vi è del pane.
|
3 A ruler who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no crops.
|
|
4 Coloro che lasciano la Legge lodano gli empi; Ma coloro che la guardano fanno loro la guerra.
|
4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.
|
|
5 Gli uomini dati al male non intendono la dirittura; Ma quelli che cercano il Signore intendono ogni cosa.
|
5 Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.
|
|
6 Meglio vale il povero che cammina nella sua integrità, Che il perverso che cammina per due vie, benchè egli sia ricco.
|
6 Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a rich man whose ways are perverse.
|
|
7 Chi guarda la Legge è figliuolo intendente; Ma chi è compagno de’ ghiottoni fa vergogna a suo padre.
|
7 He who keeps the law is a discerning son, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.
|
|
8 Chi accresce i suoi beni con usura e con interesse, Li aduna per colui che dona a’ poveri.
|
8 He who increases his wealth by exorbitant interest amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor.
|
|
9 Chi rivolge indietro l’orecchio, per non udir la Legge, La sua orazione altresì sarà in abbominio.
|
9 If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable.
|
|
10 Chi travia gli uomini diritti per via cattiva. Caderà egli stesso nella sua fossa; Ma gli uomini intieri erederanno il bene.
|
10 He who leads the upright along an evil path will fall into his own trap, but the blameless will receive a good inheritance.
|
|
11 Il ricco si reputa savio; Ma il povero intendente l’esamina.
|
11 A rich man may be wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who has discernment sees through him.
|
|
12 Quando i giusti trionfano, la gloria è grande; Ma quando gli empi sorgono, gli uomini son ricercati.
|
12 When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, men go into hiding.
|
|
13 Chi copre i suoi misfatti non prospererà; Ma chi li confessa, e li lascia, otterrà misericordia.
|
13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
|
|
14 Beato l’uomo che si spaventa del continuo; Ma chi indura il suo cuore caderà nel male.
|
14 Blessed is the man who always fears the LORD, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.
|
|
15 Un signore empio, che signoreggia sopra un popolo povero, È un leon ruggente, ed un orso affamato.
|
15 Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked man ruling over a helpless people.
|
|
16 Un rettore privo di ogni prudenza fa anche molte storsioni; Ma quel che odia l’avarizia prolungherà i suoi giorni.
|
16 A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment, but he who hates ill-gotten gain will enjoy a long life.
|
|
17 L’uomo che fa violenza nel sangue alle persone, Fuggirà fino alla fossa, e niuno lo potrà sostenere.
|
17 A man tormented by the guilt of murder will be a fugitive till death; let no one support him.
|
|
18 Chi cammina in integrità sarà salvo; Ma il perverso, che cammina per due vie, caderà in un tratto.
|
18 He whose walk is blameless is kept safe, but he whose ways are perverse will suddenly fall.
|
|
19 Chi lavora la sua terra sarà saziato di pane; Ma chi va dietro agli uomini da nulla sarà saziato di povertà.
|
19 He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
|
|
20 L’uomo leale avrà molte benedizioni; Ma chi si affretta di arricchire non sarà tenuto innocente.
|
20 A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.
|
|
21 Egli non è bene di aver riguardo alla qualità delle persone; E per un boccon di pane l’uomo commette misfatto.
|
21 To show partiality is not good-- yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
|
|
22 Chi si affretta di arricchire è uomo d’occhio maligno, E non sa che povertà gli avverrà.
|
22 A stingy man is eager to get rich and is unaware that poverty awaits him.
|
|
23 Chi riprende alcuno ne avrà in fine maggior grazia Che chi lo lusinga con la lingua.
|
23 He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue.
|
|
24 Chi ruba suo padre e sua madre, E dice: Non vi è misfatto alcuno, È compagno del ladrone.
|
24 He who robs his father or mother and says, "It's not wrong"-- he is partner to him who destroys.
|
|
25 Chi ha l’animo gonfio muove contese; Ma chi si confida nel Signore sarà ingrassato.
|
25 A greedy man stirs up dissension, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.
|
|
26 Chi si confida nel suo cuore è stolto; Ma chi cammina in sapienza scamperà.
|
26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.
|
|
27 Chi dona al povero non avrà alcun bisogno; Ma chi nasconde gli occhi da esso avrà molte maledizioni.
|
27 He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.
|
|
28 Quando gli empi sorgono, gli uomini si nascondono; Ma quando periscono, i giusti moltiplicano.
|
28 When the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding; but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive.
