Proverbs 8 GNT/NIV - Online Parallel Bible

Good News Translation (GNT) New International Version (NIV)
Listen! Wisdom is calling out. Reason is making herself heard. 1 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
On the hilltops near the road and at the crossroads she stands. 2 On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
At the entrance to the city, beside the gates, she calls: 3 beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud:
"I appeal to all of you; I call to everyone on earth. 4 "To you, O men, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.
Are you immature? Learn to be mature. Are you foolish? Learn to have sense. 5 You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding.
Listen to my excellent words; all I tell you is right. 6 Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right.
What I say is the truth; lies are hateful to me. 7 My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.
Everything I say is true; nothing is false or misleading. 8 All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.
To those with insight, it is all clear; to the well-informed, it is all plain. 9 To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge.
Choose my instruction instead of silver; choose knowledge rather than the finest gold. 10 Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,
"I am Wisdom, I am better than jewels; nothing you want can compare with me. 11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
I am Wisdom, and I have insight; I have knowledge and sound judgment. 12 "I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.
To honor the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil ways and false words. 13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.
I make plans and carry them out. I have understanding, and I am strong. 14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power.
I help kings to govern and rulers to make good laws. 15 By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just;
Every ruler on earth governs with my help, officials and nobles alike. 16 by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth.
I love those who love me; whoever looks for me can find me. 17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
I have riches and honor to give, prosperity and success. 18 With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
What you get from me is better than the finest gold, better than the purest silver. 19 My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.
I walk the way of righteousness; I follow the paths of justice, 20 I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
giving wealth to those who love me, filling their houses with treasures. 21 bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full.
"The Lord created me first of all, the first of his works, long ago. 22 "The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;
I was made in the very beginning, at the first, before the world began. 23 I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began.
I was born before the oceans, when there were no springs of water. 24 When there were no oceans, I was given birth, when there were no springs abounding with water;
I was born before the mountains, before the hills were set in place, 25 before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth,
before God made the earth and its fields or even the first handful of soil. 26 before he made the earth or its fields or any of the dust of the world.
I was there when he set the sky in place, when he stretched the horizon across the ocean, 27 I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
when he placed the clouds in the sky, when he opened the springs of the ocean 28 when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
and ordered the waters of the sea to rise no further than he said. I was there when he laid the earth's foundations. 29 when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
I was beside him like an architect, I was his daily source of joy, always happy in his presence - 30 Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence,
happy with the world and pleased with the human race. 31 rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.
"Now, young people, listen to me. Do as I say, and you will be happy. 32 "Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.
Listen to what you are taught. Be wise; do not neglect it. 33 Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it.
Those who listen to me will be happy - those who stay at my door every day, waiting at the entrance to my home. 34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.
Those who find me find life, and the Lord will be pleased with them. 35 For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the LORD.
Those who do not find me hurt themselves; anyone who hates me loves death." 36 But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death."
