Holman Christian Standard (CSB) New International Version (NIV)
I have taken refuge in the Lord. How can you say to me, "Escape to the mountain like a bird! 1 In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: "Flee like a bird to your mountain.
For look, the wicked string the bow; they put the arrow on the bowstring to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. 2 For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.
When the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" 3 When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do ?"
The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord's throne is in heaven. His eyes watch; He examines everyone. 4 The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them.
The Lord examines the righteous and the wicked. He hates the lover of violence. 5 The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates.
He will rain burning coals and sulfur on the wicked; a scorching wind will be their portion. 6 On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot.
For the Lord is righteous; He loves righteous deeds. The upright will see His face. 7 For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.
