The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
{A Song of degrees.} In my trouble I called unto Jehovah, and he answered me. 1 I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
Jehovah, deliver my soul from the lying lip, from the deceitful tongue. 2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
What shall be given unto thee, what shall be added unto thee, thou deceitful tongue? 3 What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue?
Sharp arrows of a mighty one, with burning coals of broom-wood. 4 He will punish you with a warrior's sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom tree.
Woe is me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar! 5 Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
My soul hath long dwelt with them that hate peace. 6 Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
I [am for] peace; but when I speak, *they* [are] for war. 7 I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
