The Message (MSG) New International Version (NIV)
When they said, "Let's go to the house of God," my heart leaped for joy. 1 I rejoiced with those who said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD."
And now we're here, O Jerusalem, inside Jerusalem's walls! 2 Our feet are standing in your gates, O Jerusalem.
Jerusalem, well-built city, built as a place for worship! 3 Jerusalem is built like a city that is closely compacted together.
The city to which the tribes ascend, all God's tribes go up to worship, To give thanks to the name of God - this is what it means to be Israel. 4 That is where the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, to praise the name of the LORD according to the statute given to Israel.
Thrones for righteous judgment are set there, famous David-thrones. 5 There the thrones for judgment stand, the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for Jerusalem's peace! Prosperity to all you Jerusalem-lovers! 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure.
Friendly insiders, get along! Hostile outsiders, keep your distance! 7 May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels."
For the sake of my family and friends, I say it again: live in peace! 8 For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say, "Peace be within you."
For the sake of the house of our God, God, I'll do my very best for you. 9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity.
