Bible in Basic English (BBE) New International Version (NIV)
Let the Lord be praised. O you servants of the Lord, give praise to the name of the Lord. 1 Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants of the LORD,
You who are in the house of the Lord, and in the open spaces of the house of our God, 2 you who minister in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God.
Give praise to Jah, for he is good: make melody to his name, for it is pleasing. 3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.
For the Lord has taken Jacob for himself, and Israel for his property. 4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.
I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is greater than all other gods. 5 I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.
The Lord has done whatever was pleasing to him, in heaven, and on the earth, in the seas and in all the deep waters. 6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.
He makes the mists go up from the ends of the earth; he makes thunder-flames for the rain; he sends out the winds from his store-houses. 7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.
He put to death the first-fruits of Egypt, of man and of beast. 8 He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, the firstborn of men and animals.
He sent signs and wonders among you, O Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his servants. 9 He sent his signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants.
He overcame great nations, and put strong kings to death; 10 He struck down many nations and killed mighty kings--
Sihon, king of the Amorites, and Og, king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan; 11 Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan and all the kings of Canaan--
And gave their land for a heritage, even for a heritage to Israel his people. 12 and he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel.
O Lord, your name is eternal; and the memory of you will have no end. 13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations.
For the Lord will be judge of his people's cause; his feelings will be changed to his servants. 14 For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.
The images of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. 15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.
They have mouths, but no voice, they have eyes, but they do not see; 16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;
They have ears, but no hearing; and there is no breath in their mouths. 17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.
Those who make them are like them; and so is everyone who puts his hope in them. 18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.
Give praise to the Lord, O children of Israel: give praise to the Lord, O sons of Aaron: 19 O house of Israel, praise the LORD; O house of Aaron, praise the LORD;
Give praise to the Lord, O sons of Levi: let all the worshippers of the Lord give him praise. 20 O house of Levi, praise the LORD; you who fear him, praise the LORD.
Praise be to the Lord out of Zion, even to the Lord whose house is in Jerusalem, Let the Lord be praised. 21 Praise be to the LORD from Zion, to him who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.
