Bible in Basic English (BBE) New International Version (NIV)
The sin of the evil-doer says in his heart, There is no fear of the Lord before his eyes. 1 An oracle is within my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes.
For he takes comfort in the thought that his sin will not be uncovered and hated. 2 For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin.
In the words of his mouth are evil and deceit; he has given up being wise and doing good. 3 The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and to do good.
He gives thought to evil on his bed; he takes a way which is not good; he is not a hater of evil. 4 Even on his bed he plots evil; he commits himself to a sinful course and does not reject what is wrong.
Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens, and your strong purpose is as high as the clouds. 5 Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judging is like the great deep; O Lord, you give life to man and beast. 6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. O LORD, you preserve both man and beast.
How good is your loving mercy, O God! the children of men take cover under the shade of your wings. 7 How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
The delights of your house will be showered on them; you will give them drink from the river of your pleasures. 8 They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights.
For with you is the fountain of life: in your light we will see light. 9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
O let there be no end to your loving mercy to those who have knowledge of you, or of your righteousness to the upright in heart. 10 Continue your love to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come against me, or the hand of the evil-doers put me out of my place. 11 May the foot of the proud not come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the workers of evil have come down: they have been made low, and will not be lifted up. 12 See how the evildoers lie fallen-- thrown down, not able to rise!
