Common English Bible (CEB) New International Version (NIV)
I put all my hope in the LORD. He leaned down to me; he listened to my cry for help. 1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the pit of death, out of the mud and filth, and set my feet on solid rock. He steadied my legs. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise for our God. Many people will learn of this and be amazed; they will trust the LORD. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.
Those who put their trust in the LORD, who pay no attention to the proud or to those who follow lies, are truly happy! 4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.
You, LORD my God! You've done so many things— your wonderful deeds and your plans for us— no one can compare with you! If I were to proclaim and talk about all of them, they would be too numerous to count! 5 Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.
You don't relish sacrifices or offerings; you don't require entirely burned offerings or compensation offerings— but you have given me ears! 6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced; burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.
So I said, "Here I come! I'm inscribed in the written scroll. 7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come-- it is written about me in the scroll.
I want to do your will, my God. Your Instruction is deep within me." 8 I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."
I've told the good news of your righteousness in the great assembly. I didn't hold anything back— as you well know, LORD! 9 I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, as you know, O LORD.
I didn't keep your righteousness only to myself. I declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I didn't hide your loyal love and trustworthiness from the great assembly. 10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly.
So now you, LORD— don't hold back any of your compassion from me. Let your loyal love and faithfulness always protect me, 11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me.
because countless evils surround me. My wrongdoings have caught up with me— I can't see a thing! There's more of them than hairs on my head— my courage leaves me. 12 For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me.
Favor me, LORD, and deliver me! LORD, come quickly and help me! 13 Be pleased, O LORD, to save me; O LORD, come quickly to help me.
Let those who seek my life, who want me dead, be disgraced and put to shame. Let those who want to do me harm be thoroughly frustrated and humiliated. 14 May all who seek to take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.
Let those who say to me, "Yes! Oh, yes!" be destroyed by their shame. 15 May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!" be appalled at their own shame.
But let all who seek you celebrate and rejoice in you. Let those who love your salvation always say, "The LORD is great!" 16 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, "The LORD be exalted!"
But me? I'm weak and needy. Let my Lord think of me. You are my help and my rescuer. My God, don't wait any longer! 17 Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay.
