The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
{To the chief Musician. Upon Nehiloth. A Psalm of David.} Give ear to my words, O Jehovah; consider my meditation. 1 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing.
Hearken unto the voice of my crying, my king and my God; for to thee will I pray. 2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
Jehovah, in the morning shalt thou hear my voice; in the morning will I address myself to thee, and will look up. 3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness; evil shall not sojourn with thee. 4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
Insolent fools shall not stand before thine eyes; thou hatest all workers of iniquity. 5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.
Thou wilt destroy them that speak lies: Jehovah abhorreth a man of blood and deceit. 6 You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors.
But as for me, in the greatness of thy loving-kindness will I enter thy house; I will bow down toward the temple of thy holiness in thy fear. 7 But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.
Lead me, Jehovah, in thy righteousness, because of my foes; make thy way plain before me. 8 Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make straight your way before me.
For there is no certainty in their mouth; their inward part is perversion, their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. 9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.
Bring guilt upon them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels: drive them out in the multitude of their transgressions, for they have rebelled against thee. 10 Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
And all that trust in thee shall rejoice: for ever shall they shout joyously, and thou wilt protect them; and they that love thy name shall exult in thee. 11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
For thou, Jehovah, wilt bless the righteous [man]; with favour wilt thou surround him as [with] a shield. 12 For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
