Good News Translation (GNT) New International Version (NIV)
You have rejected us, God, and defeated us; you have been angry with us - but now turn back to us. 1 You have rejected us, O God, and burst forth upon us; you have been angry--now restore us!
You have made the land tremble, and you have cut it open; now heal its wounds, because it is falling apart. 2 You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking.
You have made your people suffer greatly; we stagger around as though we were drunk. 3 You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger.
You have warned those who have reverence for you, so that they might escape destruction. 4 But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow. "Selah"
Save us by your might; answer our prayer, so that the people you love may be rescued. 5 Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered.
From his sanctuary God has said, "In triumph I will divide Shechem and distribute Sukkoth Valley to my people. 6 God has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Succoth.
Gilead is mine, and Manasseh too; Ephraim is my helmet and Judah my royal scepter. 7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter.
But I will use Moab as my washbowl, and I will throw my sandals on Edom, as a sign that I own it. Did the Philistines think they would shout in triumph over me?" 8 Moab is my washbasin, upon Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph."
Who, O God, will take me into the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? 9 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
Have you really rejected us? Aren't you going to march out with our armies? 10 Is it not you, O God, you who have rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?
Help us against the enemy; human help is worthless. 11 Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.
With God on our side we will win; he will defeat our enemies. 12 With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
