English Standard Version (ESV) New International Version (NIV)
In you, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame! 1 In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.
In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me! 2 Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness; turn your ear to me and save me.
Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. 3 Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man. 4 Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of evil and cruel men.
For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth. 5 For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth.
Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother's womb. My praise is continually of you. 6 From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother's womb. I will ever praise you.
I have been as a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge. 7 I have become like a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge.
My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day. 8 My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.
Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent. 9 Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone.
For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together 10 For my enemies speak against me; those who wait to kill me conspire together.
and say, "God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver him." 11 They say, "God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for no one will rescue him."
O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! 12 Be not far from me, O God; come quickly, O my God, to help me.
May my accusers be put to shame and consumed; with scorn and disgrace may they be covered who seek my hurt. 13 May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace.
But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more. 14 But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.
My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. 15 My mouth will tell of your righteousness, of your salvation all day long, though I know not its measure.
With the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone. 16 I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone.
O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. 17 Since my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. 18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.
Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? 19 Your righteousness reaches to the skies, O God, you who have done great things. Who, O God, is like you?
You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. 20 Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.
You will increase my greatness and comfort me again. 21 You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.
I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. 22 I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed. 23 My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you-- I, whom you have redeemed.
And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long, for they have been put to shame and disappointed who sought to do me hurt. 24 My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion.
