Bible in Basic English (BBE) New International Version (NIV)
O Lord, our Lord, whose glory is higher than the heavens, how noble is your name in all the earth! 1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
You have made clear your strength even out of the mouths of babies at the breast, because of those who are against you; so that you may put to shame the cruel and violent man. 2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have put in their places; 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
What is man, that you keep him in mind? the son of man, that you take him into account? 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?
For you have made him only a little lower than the gods, crowning him with glory and honour. 5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
You have made him ruler over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet; 6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:
All sheep and oxen, and all the beasts of the field; 7 all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air and the fish of the sea, and whatever goes through the deep waters of the seas. 8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord, how noble is your name in all the earth! 9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
