And I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. 1 Then I looked up--and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand!
Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof. 2 I asked, "Where are you going?" He answered me, "To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is."
And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, 3 Then the angel who was speaking to me left, and another angel came to meet him
and said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as villages without walls, by reason of the multitude of men and cattle therein. 4 and said to him: "Run, tell that young man, 'Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of men and livestock in it.
For I, saith Jehovah, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and I will be the glory in the midst of her. 5 And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,' declares the LORD, 'and I will be its glory within.'
Ho, ho, flee from the land of the north, saith Jehovah; for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, saith Jehovah. 6 "Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north," declares the LORD, "for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven," declares the LORD.
Ho Zion, escape, thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon. 7 "Come, O Zion! Escape, you who live in the Daughter of Babylon!"
For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: After glory hath he sent me unto the nations which plundered you; for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. 8 For this is what the LORD Almighty says: "After he has honored me and has sent me against the nations that have plundered you--for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye--
For, behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall be a spoil to those that served them; and ye shall know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me. 9 I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me.
Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith Jehovah. 10 "Shout and be glad, O Daughter of Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you," declares the LORD.
And many nations shall join themselves to Jehovah in that day, and shall be my people; and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that Jehovah of hosts has sent me unto thee. 11 "Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you.
And Jehovah shall inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and shall yet choose Jerusalem. 12 The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem.
Be silent, all flesh, before Jehovah; for he is waked up out of his holy habitation. 13 Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling."
