And the angel that spoke in me came again: and he waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep. 1 Then the angel who talked with me returned and wakened me, as a man is wakened from his sleep.
And he said to me: What seest thou? And I said: I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, and its lamp upon the top of it: and the seven lights thereof upon it: and seven funnels for the lights that were upon the top thereof. 2 He asked me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top and seven lights on it, with seven channels to the lights.
And two olive trees over it: one upon the right side of the lamp, and the other upon the left side thereof. 3 Also there are two olive trees by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left."
And I answered, and said to the angel that spoke in me, saying: What are these things, my lord? 4 I asked the angel who talked with me, "What are these, my lord?"
And the angel that spoke in me answered, and said to me: Knowest thou not what these things are? And I said: No, my lord. 5 He answered, "Do you not know what these are?" "No, my lord," I replied.
And he answered, and spoke to me, saying: This is the word of the Lord to Zorobabel, saying: Not with an army, nor by might, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. 6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.
Who art thou, O great mountain, before Zorobabel? thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring out the chief stone, and shall give equal grace to the grace thereof. 7 "What are you, O mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of 'God bless it! God bless it!' "
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 8 Then the word of the LORD came to me:
The hands of Zorobabel have laid the foundations of this house, and his hands shall finish it: and you shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me to you. 9 "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you.
For who hath despised little days? and they shall rejoice, and shall see the tin plummet in the hand of Zorobabel. These are the seven eyes of the Lord, that run to and fro through the whole earth. 10 "Who despises the day of small things? Men will rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. "(These seven are the eyes of the LORD, which range throughout the earth.)"
And I answered, and said to him: What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick, and upon the left side thereof? 11 Then I asked the angel, "What are these two olive trees on the right and the left of the lampstand?"
And I answered again, and said to him: What are the two olive branches, that are by the two golden beaks, in which are the funnels of gold? 12 Again I asked him, "What are these two olive branches beside the two gold pipes that pour out golden oil?"
And he spoke to me, saying: Knowest thou not what these are? And I said: No, my lord. 13 He replied, "Do you not know what these are?" "No, my lord," I said.
And he said: These are two sons of oil who stand before the Lord of the whole earth. 14 So he said, "These are the two who are anointed to serve the Lord of all the earth."
