Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes and looked, and behold, a flying scroll. 1 I looked again--and there before me was a flying scroll!
And he said unto me, "What seest thou?" And I answered, "I see a flying scroll. The length thereof is twenty cubits and the breadth thereof ten cubits." 2 He asked me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a flying scroll, thirty feet long and fifteen feet wide. "
Then said he unto me, "This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth; for every one who stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it, and every one who sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it. 3 And he said to me, "This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished.
`I will bring it forth,' saith the LORD of hosts, `and it shall enter into the house of the thief and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by My name. And it shall remain in the midst of his house and shall consume it, with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.'" 4 The LORD Almighty declares, 'I will send it out, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of him who swears falsely by my name. It will remain in his house and destroy it, both its timbers and its stones.' "
Then the angel who talked with me went forth and said unto me, "Lift up now thine eyes and see what is this that goeth forth." 5 Then the angel who was speaking to me came forward and said to me, "Look up and see what this is that is appearing."
And I said, "What is it?" And he said, "This is an ephah that goeth forth." He said moreover, "This is their resemblance through all the earth." 6 I asked, "What is it?" He replied, "It is a measuring basket." And he added, "This is the iniquity of the people throughout the land."
And behold, there was lifted up a weighty piece of lead, and this is a woman who sitteth in the midst of the ephah. 7 Then the cover of lead was raised, and there in the basket sat a woman!
And he said, "This is wickedness." And he cast it into the midst of the ephah, and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof. 8 He said, "This is wickedness," and he pushed her back into the basket and pushed the lead cover down over its mouth.
Then I lifted up mine eyes and looked, and behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings (for they had wings like the wings of a stork), and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven. 9 Then I looked up--and there before me were two women, with the wind in their wings! They had wings like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between heaven and earth.
Then said I to the angel who talked with me, "Whither do these bear the ephah?" 10 "Where are they taking the basket?" I asked the angel who was speaking to me.
And he said unto me, "To build it a house in the land of Shinar; and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base." 11 He replied, "To the country of Babylonia to build a house for it. When it is ready, the basket will be set there in its place."
