Hebrew Names Version (HNV) New International Version (NIV)
The word of the LORD of Hosts came to me. 1 Again the word of the LORD Almighty came to me.
Thus says the LORD of Hosts: "I am jealous for Tziyon with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath." 2 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "I am very jealous for Zion; I am burning with jealousy for her."
Thus says the LORD: "I have returned to Tziyon, and will dwell in the midst of Yerushalayim. Yerushalayim shall be called 'The City of Truth;' and the mountain of the LORD of Hosts, 'The Holy Mountain.'" 3 This is what the LORD says: "I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the LORD Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain."
Thus says the LORD of Hosts: "Old men and old women will again dwell in the streets of Yerushalayim, every man with his staff in his hand for very age. 4 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each with cane in hand because of his age.
The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in its streets." 5 The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there."
Thus says the LORD of Hosts: "If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?" says the LORD of Hosts. 6 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "It may seem marvelous to the remnant of this people at that time, but will it seem marvelous to me?" declares the LORD Almighty.
Thus says the LORD of Hosts: "Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; 7 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "I will save my people from the countries of the east and the west.
and I will bring them, and they will dwell in the midst of Yerushalayim; and they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness." 8 I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God."
Thus says the LORD of Hosts: "Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of Hosts was laid, even the temple, that it might be built. 9 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "You who now hear these words spoken by the prophets who were there when the foundation was laid for the house of the LORD Almighty, let your hands be strong so that the temple may be built.
For before those days there was no wages for man, nor any wages for an animal; neither was there any shalom to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor. 10 Before that time there were no wages for man or beast. No one could go about his business safely because of his enemy, for I had turned every man against his neighbor.
But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days," says the LORD of Hosts. 11 But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people as I did in the past," declares the LORD Almighty.
"For the seed of shalom and the vine will yield its fruit, and the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things. 12 "The seed will grow well, the vine will yield its fruit, the ground will produce its crops, and the heavens will drop their dew. I will give all these things as an inheritance to the remnant of this people.
It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Yehudah and house of Yisra'el, so will I save you, and you shall be a blessing. Don't be afraid. Let your hands be strong." 13 As you have been an object of cursing among the nations, O Judah and Israel, so will I save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong."
For thus says the LORD of hosts: "As I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath," says the LORD of Hosts, "and I didn't repent; 14 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Just as I had determined to bring disaster upon you and showed no pity when your fathers angered me," says the LORD Almighty,
so again have I thought in these days to do good to Yerushalayim and to the house of Yehudah. Don't be afraid. 15 "so now I have determined to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid.
These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and shalom in your gates, 16 These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts;
and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate," says the LORD. 17 do not plot evil against your neighbor, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this," declares the LORD.
The word of the LORD of Hosts came to me. 18 Again the word of the LORD Almighty came to me.
Thus says the LORD of Hosts: "The fasts of the fourth fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Yehudah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and shalom." 19 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth months will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore love truth and peace."
Thus says the LORD of Hosts: "Many peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come; 20 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come,
and the inhabitants of one shall go to another, saying, 'Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of the LORD, and to seek the LORD of Hosts. I will go also.' 21 and the inhabitants of one city will go to another and say, 'Let us go at once to entreat the LORD and seek the LORD Almighty. I myself am going.'
Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the LORD of Hosts in Yerushalayim, and to entreat the favor of the LORD." 22 And many peoples and powerful nations will come to Jerusalem to seek the LORD Almighty and to entreat him."
Thus says the LORD of Hosts: "In those days, ten men will take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Yehudi, saying, 'We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'" 23 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "In those days ten men from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, 'Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.' " AN ORACLE
