At midnight1 I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws.263
I am a friend to all who fear you,3 to all who follow your precepts.464
The earth is filled with your love,5 O LORD; teach me your decrees.6
Do good7 to your servant according to your word,8 O LORD.
Teach me knowledge9 and good judgment, for I believe in your commands.
Before I was afflicted10 I went astray,11 but now I obey your word.1268
You are good,13 and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.1469
Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies,15 I keep your precepts with all my heart.
Their hearts are callous16 and unfeeling, but I delight in your law.
It was good for me to be afflicted17 so that I might learn your decrees.
The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.18
