They pour out arrogant1 words; all the evildoers are full of boasting.25
They crush your people,3 O LORD; they oppress your inheritance.46
They slay the widow5 and the alien; they murder the fatherless.67
They say, "The LORD does not see;7 the God of Jacob8 pays no heed."
Take heed, you senseless ones9 among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?
Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?1010
Does he who disciplines11 nations not punish? Does he who teaches12 man lack knowledge?
The LORD knows the thoughts13 of man; he knows that they are futile.1412
Blessed is the man you discipline,15 O LORD, the man you teach16 from your law;
you grant him relief from days of trouble,17 till a pit18 is dug for the wicked.
For the LORD will not reject his people;19 he will never forsake his inheritance.
